DON'T STAY HERE...I WAS ROBBED. Upon arriving with my mom, we were meet by the lady who runs the place. She was very nice and welcoming but didn't speak a word of English, French, German or any other language other than Spanish. Actually, I was fine with that because I wanted the Cuban experience. When we arrived there was a cleaning girl there with her boyfriend. I didn't pay them any attention and preceded to our room to put our things down. Then we left right away to take a walk and explore Havana. We weren't out more than 30 minutes when we ran into the guy from the house on the street. He stepped in front of us and said, "Hi it's me from the house". I said sorry but I've never seen you before. He said yes, I was at the house when you checked in my family lives right next door. I'm Emilio. So to be polite I said hello. He asked what we were doing and I told him we're going to buy cigars. He said, "Oh, I know where to take you I'll show you". I said are you sure, what were you doing on the street? He said he was waiting on his parents to help them with heavy bags but it wasn't a problem. After 30 minutes at the cigar store, I said don't you have to meet your parents? He's said, "it's okay they'll be fine", I thought that was strange but I didn't want to be rude and said ok. As I paid for the cigars, he watched as I pulled out my wallet. After that we wanted something to eat so he should us a place to eat, that was a tourist trap in someone house, that charged 5 times as much as a good restaurant. I told him thank you but we're fine now. He asked if I would buy him a beer and I said fine. Then he left. But he said he would see us back at the house. I never so him again.
After two days of exploring Havana and having a great time. That's when everything got crazy! Upon arriving back to the room on the third night, mom and I watched some tv in our room and went to bed. The next morning, we got up and got ready to leave for the day. We walked just one block when I noticed my wallet was gone. I asked my mom if she had seen it. She said it was in your bag. I ran back to the room to find the caretaker mopping our floor. That's when I noticed the lock on the door in the bathroom leading to the courtyard was unlocked. It can only be unlocked from the inside, which means someone unlocked it while we were out then came into our room while we slept!! To come into someone room in the middle of the night while they slept, you need know what you're looking for and where to find it.
The next day I told the caretaker of the house what happened and she just laughed and it wasn't possible. I also saw the cleaning girl the next day but she refused to look at me. I also emailed the owner of the house, Alejandro but he didn't respond. That should tell you everything you need to know. It's a shame because Cuba has some many good people that people like this ruin it for everyone. So please go visit Cuba but don't stay at this place.
