El Vedado is the youngest of the three neighborhoods, built around the 1920s as the wealthiest population moved west, away from the noise of the centre. Famous hotels built during the 1950s such as the Hotel Nacional and its Mafia-related stories, the Hotel Habana Libre (once property of the Hilton hotel chain), and the Hotel Riviera with its magnificent sea views from all rooms, are all in Vedado.
